The Tennis Coach: A Change in Perspective Changes Everything

The story is set in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in the 90's, a city that generally languishes in obscurity even as it is known worldwide for its musical prowess and hit records. To obscure its identity more, Muscle Shoals has become the face of not one city, but four smaller ones: Florence, Sheffield, Tuscumbia and Muscle Shoals. The areas is split by the mile wide Tennessee river stretching, dividing and bridging the people. Harnessing the massive Tennessee River, the Wilson dam generates an abundance of electricity, but the real energy comes from a lesser-known collection of original characters providing a rich portrait of a unique southern culture and a coach who changes their lives.A group of twenty somethings including myself, the author, encounter our enigmatic tennis coach who takes us under his wing to unscramble a bevy of issues and character defects.
